Steven Slaughter
Vice President
Steven Slaughter is the vice president of The I-71 Committee. Steven started his career in banking, moving to the DC-area in 2011 after completing his finance degree at New Jersey City University. In his time working in the financial sector, he taught finance and money management to new small businesses in urban areas. After this, Steven transitioned to a role where he taught classes for low-income communities, giving them the necessary tools to become first-time homebuyers.
After thirteen years working in finance, Steven decided to pursue a career in tourism and began driving for Uber. It was through this experience that he quickly learned how many cannabis consumers were traveling to and from DC on a daily basis. Many of these people were uninformed about the local laws and limitations of recreational cannabis in the District. From these experiences, he was able to launch his own business venture, Lucky Chuckie Tours, so that both local DC residents and cannabis tourists would be able to learn about the history, laws, and limitations of cannabis in the District. Steven uses his background in finance, banking, and tourism to educate the public on the benefits legalization of recreational Cannabis here, as well as the limitations of the Harris Rider.
